Archaeological reconstruction of Herod the Great's promontory palace gardens at Caesarea Maritima, through analysis of excavated courtyards, rock-cut pools, planter beds, and fossil pollen preserved in Roman column plaster. The study reveals a multi-level Herodian seaside palace where colonnaded gardens and reception spaces were designed to command views across water, vegetation, and harbor infrastructure, expressing imperial power through the deliberate choreography of landscape and prospect.
