Reconstruction of the Roman villa gardens at Villa San Marco in Stabiae, buried by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 CE. Archaeobotanical pollen extracted from Roman wall plaster, excavated root cavities, and spatial landscape analysis reveal ornamental gardens of elm, plane trees, and Mediterranean species arranged within peristyle courtyards and terraces overlooking the Bay of Naples.
